Marianne has always been interested in the effects of light. In early work, of still-life paintings in oil, it was the way light passed over and through delicate materials. More recently the West Country coast and countryside have inspired her work. Shifting patterns of light through trees and over water, shadows and reflections are common themes for which she finds pastel a sympathetic medium. |
