Artist's Profile

Angela Spanswick

Artist Angela Spanswick, using the mediums of Watercolour, Acrylic and Photography, takes you through a thought-provoking journey of innermost feelings, memories and dreams.
Angela was born and bred in Ilfracombe, North Devon, married and moved away when she was 21 and in 1999 returned, alone.  She now lives in Croyde on the North Devon coast where, inspired by the incredible beauty of the coast, hills and moors, she took up photography and painting.
Angela’s watercolours are individual and quite unique, having a surreal quality that is not quite of this time, and yet with a searing sense of déjà vu, whilst her photographs have an extraordinary luminosity and depth of dimensionality empowering them to stir your emotions.  Angela also "plays" with acrylics, reminding us that within us all is a child, just waiting for the opportunity to play.

Artist's Statement

I believe that nothing in life happens without a reason; places we go; people we meet; experiences and opportunities that present themselves - they are all meant to be, they are all part of our own personal journey, and mould us into the people we ultimately become.
What I produce comes from the heart, and each piece I complete holds a part of me, the most precious part - my soul - this is the part I now give to you.  In many respects my work represents memories and dreams, I hope, if nothing else, that the viewer takes something of what is intended away with them, and it helps them to remember their own personal journey.
