I have always had an interest in animals and art, and having attended various further education courses I decided to pursue a full time career as an artist. Fortunately, my work has proved to be popular with private clients and publishers, with artwork selling nationally and internationally, including the USA. My designs have been used on a variety of commercial products including greeting cards, plates, T-shirts and prints. Animals have always been an important inspiration for my work, especially my own cats and dogs. I like to be able to read the expression in an animal's eyes so that I can capture its character in a painting. I work in hard and soft pastels, and I find this medium is particularly appropriate for hair and fur textures. I am running workshops, painting days and art breaks from my studio in the grounds of my home near Torrington, as well as monthly workshops at Filleigh Village Hall. On 2nd July I will be giving a demonstration of pastel techniques at the Exmoor Pony Centre near Dulverton, and I would be delighted to meet any NDA members who would like to come along.
