Although I have explored abstract and conceptual aspects of painting in the past and during my degree course, I have recently returned to figurative work. A principle interest of mine has always been to create work using the human form and often with a narrative emphasis. When creating portraits, like all portrait artists, I inevitably endeavour to capture the inner personality of the subject, but some of my work is less meant to depict specific individual personalities than to make a more general comment on the human condition. |
