Artist's Profile

I studied at Harrow Art School from the age of sixteen, when I discovered an enthusiasm for the printing processes, particularly Batik and Lino Cut. I continued this specialism at the University of London. I have shown this work in individual and shared exhibitions in the South East, Somerset and Devon where I now live.

I have worked on large murals in the community and with youth groups to produce public murals, exhibitions and installations and I have been a teacher of Art for many years. I regularly work with the Westward Ho! Youth Theatre Group to produce scenery for their productions.

Artist's Statement

I love experimenting with the technique of Batik which is so fluid and colourful.  The Tchanting tool lays in molten wax lines and areas of wax can be crazed to create depth.  So I look for compositions that will work most successfully using texture and line.  My themes are local land and seascapes, flowers and animals inspired by my favourites of Art History.
