Alison Nicholson

Artist's Profile

Alison is a textile artist whose work is influenced by the beautiful countryside and coastline of Devon.  She has an Access to Art and Design Diploma from North Devon College and an HND in Spatial Design from SCAT.  Alison's first solo exhibition was held at the Landmark during December and January and was a big success with 14 pictures being sold.  Her next solo exhibition will take place at the Queens Theatre in October.  Work can be viewed at 14 The Gallery, Torrington, The Waterside, Instow, Studio 2, Appledore, Gallery 3 9 in Barnstaple, and EX34 in Woolacombe.  I do workshops, please telephone me if interested in joining one.

Artist's Statement

Alison creates collages using fabric paper wire thread and found objetcs such as feather and driftwood. Most of her work is machine stitiched and free embroidered but she also uses glue and paint. She like to capture the essence and atmosphere of the landscape using strong colour and texture and to make her work as 3D as possible.
