Ros Osbourn Retrospective25th February - 27th March 2008 The Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple
Ros is well known amongst us for her original and imaginative paintings and ceramics as well as for her Art garden. On show are works not previously seen in public including several self-portraits along with paintings and drawings dating back to the late fifties ranging in style from Super-realism to abstraction. Also shown are the more recent and familiar anti-war works. The exhibition reveals her long-standing interest in particular techniques and subject matter, which include concern with current social issues, an interest in intense colour and pattern and collage and shows how these have developed over the years.
Jill Denton - A New Horizon1st February - 1st March 2008 The Plough Arts Centre, Torrington Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 10pm Moving to West Cornwall after living in North Devon for more than 40 years has opened up a whole new world of discovery and inspiration for textile artist Jill Denton. This exhibition includes stitched and embroidered handmade felt, mixed media, found objects and recycled materials and reflects a personal response to the place she has left and her new home and life.
