- Wendy Chiles
I paint what I see. For me it is a way of appreciating and understanding what I am looking at. I have always been attracted to the human form, particularly the face, and the endless variety that the same combination of features can present. Facial expressions and body language can speak volumes about the human experience. More recently I have been drawn into tackling the beauty of the coastal landscape and the infinite variety of shapes and forms carved out by the ravages of climate and geology.
I gained a BA in fine art and a post graduate diploma from the universities of Central England and Coventry respectively. I was lucky to be the proprietor of Appledore Gallery for four years during which I did my best to promote local artists and supply the demands of visiting collectors.
