Our first get together of 2022 was a great success.
Coffee at the Quay was an informal get together for members to meet new members and catch up with familiar faces over coffee and cake at the wonderful Fremington Quay cafe.
The event took place at 10.30 on Wednesday 12th January 2022.
We were very lucky to wake to a glorious winter day, bathed in sunshine with clear skies and a refreshing nip to the air.
The good weather probably helped in encouraging a good turnout with around 25 members attending, filling up the Fremington Quay cafe. Some came for coffee, some came to offer support to the artists and about 10 or 12 members drawing and painting.
After a cup of hot, fresh coffee we donned our wooly hats and moved out on to the quayside to sketch the quay and the surrounding views around the River Taw, looking over to Ashford, Chivenor and Crow Point.
Some came equipped with easels, while others used the picnic benches or even squatted on the floor.
As the morning wore on, some got peckish and headed back to the cafe for a spot of lunch and a warming cuppa, though others were far too engrossed to move.
All in all, it was a great success and a great way to start the year.
Thank you to everyone who attended for making it such a great day and sorry to those who were unable to make it. Hopefully you will be able to join us next time.
It was such a great day that we plan to repeat the event throughout the year starting from Thursday 10th February in Ilfracombe at the Landmark. Full details will be provided nearer the time.
If members have any suggestions for other locations where we can do a paint out, we would love to hear about them.
