Cyclo drivers, Phnom Penh

by Anna Pawlyn

From a sketch made when I was sitting in the cyclo behind the one pictured. The gracefulness of the driver's body was what made me sketch, but the embarrassment I felt at lying back while a fellow human being strained away is with me still. I know I haven't caught this, but the colourfulness catches the usual tourist view of the exotic east while the repetition of the image, I hope, gives an idea of the monotony of the job
