Sunrise over Exmoor

by John Secgan

The emerging day pushes the ink black sky away,
deep cobalt blue bleeding into the warmth of cadmium yellow
horizons edge kissing away Exmoor dreams.
In an instant,
platinum gold cuts between earth and heaven.
No sounds proclaim the new days birth,
though the skies building fervent would be a quiet flute
growing to a trumpeted crescendo,
in exaltation of the miracle of life
once more.
