Both paintings are made using hand gathered earth pigments from Cornish mining waste and natural landforms on salvaged wood. And both were made during his recent tenancy at Studio 5, Porthmeor Studios in St Ives as part of his ongoing Kescows an Bys (the earth talks) project exploring the unique voice of Cornish pigments (similar colours but very different stories to those from North Devon).
He has recently become a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists and is showing as part of the Edge of Dark exhibition, curated by Jesse Leroy Smith, at Tremenhere Sculpture Gardens near Penzance from 10th October – 1st November (https://www.nsanewlyn.com/newlyn-society-of-artists/edge-dark)
RWA OPEN exhibition runs between Saturday 21st November 2020 – Sunday 7th March 2021. Tickets will be available to book online shortly.
